What does a traditional bathroom look like in 2024?

Date:

Traditional bathrooms have changed in recent years. With over 79% of people interested in bathrooms benefitting their well-being (Mintel, 2023), classic bathrooms have adapted functionality and style to accompany the modern lifestyle. We’re diving into how you can style your bathroom with modern products that pay homage to the beloved Victorian bathroom style.

Traditional Baths

A classic freestanding clawfoot bathtub always comes to mind when we think of a traditional bathroom. Although many still opt for this luxurious statement, it is becoming more common for households to want to be able to bathe and shower in the same room, particularly in compact bathrooms.

With smaller rooms, the semi-freestanding clawfoot bathtub has become one of our client’s favourite traditional clawfoot tubs. Available as a left-handed or right-handed bathtub, the Burlington Hampton Showering Bath offers modern functionality with a traditional design. Incorporating matching brassware with the claw feet is a great way to create a seamless flow.

If you have the space, a freestanding bathtub in the middle of the room is a great way to add traditional luxury to the bathroom whilst creating a focal point.

Not a fan of white? This bathtub can also be painted any Little Greene, Farrow & Ball and even colour match any existing colour to create a personalised interior.

Traditional Materials

Using timber in a bathroom is nothing new – in fact, the only thing that has really changed is just the style in which it is used. With various wood finishes gaining in popularity, oak, walnut and mahogany are firm favourites amongst our clients here at Old Fashioned Bathrooms.

Wooden bathroom furniture is so versatile as it can be crafted to suit Edwardian, Georgian and Victorian spaces. Our Foresters collection of bathroom furniture is entirely hand-crafted here in the UK, in our Suffolk based workshop. The concept behind this collection is also bespoke so that if you like a particular style, we can tailor the measurements so that it fits exactly how you want it to in your bathroom.
